Refcom has been running an Elite voluntary best practice company registration scheme since 1994 to promote environmentally responsible refrigerant management. Refcom recognised early on the need for employers to better control the use of refrigerant and prevent their release to atmosphere. It is now a legal requirement for all companies who install or maintain air conditioning, refrigeration or heat pump technology that contains F-Gas refrigerants to hold an F-Gas Company Certificate. It demonstrates that we have enough F-Gas registered employees to cover our volume of work and have the necessary tools and procedures to carry out this work.
It is a requirement to test for leakages depending upon the system and its F gas usage - for most small systems it is once a year, but larger systems may require testing every 3 months (an automatic leakage detection system is mandatory and must be checked annually). In addition, Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 may apply to air conditioning systems with compressors whose power exceeds 25kW.
The Air Conditioning and Ventilation Company engineers are fully qualified and certified to handle and safely recover refrigerants. We can commission inspections, and put in place a programme of checks to assist with your continuing obligations. Click the link to read more.
